Why is digital video better?
Digital video is preferable to analogue video for the great majority of recording purposes. Some of the key reasons for this include:
Resolution of digital video is about double that of VHS or 8 mm tape - that is, 500 lines instead of 250. Digital does not suffer colour blur or noise to the same extent as tape, which is very susceptible to these errors because data can spread (cross-talk) on analogue tape; digital offers far cleaner colours.
Sound on digital video can equal that of CDs, which is vastly superior to VHS sound.
